DUTTON S4 PHÆTON LDY 400J SHOW CAR

A very important Dutton LDY 400J been the personal transport for Tim Dutton for almost 2 years who has now moved up to a 5. This is the 6000th Dutton made during the 1980’s. Plaque on dashboard certified by Tim Dutton in May 2024 as 6000th Dutton along with original aluminium VIN plate showing :- P6000 An immaculate Dutton Phæton Series 4, based entirely on a 1970 Ford Escort Mk1 1300cc GT (hence the correct J registration). Correctly registered as a Dutton as a Historic Vehicle so no road tax or MOT required.
V5C present in the name of Tim Dutton. Fitted with correct original period/size Weller white wheels 5.5 inch J x 13 front, 6 inch J x13 rear no rim damage and with the optional chrome rollover bar. With side screens and hardly used hood. Maintained regardless of expense. Wiring stripped out and replaced with all new wiring. Apart from the all new wiring this car is 100% original (All numbers match) including the original very well maintained white gel coat – as it left the factory around 40 years ago

We purchased this S4 a couple of years ago so a comparison could be made against the all new Phæton 5 for a couple of write-ups appearing early 2026 in the 2 major kit car magazines. Price is now reduced to £3,800 ono to clear. A deposit can be accepted now but car collection will not be possible until end January 2026.
DUTTON MELOS
A lovely example of an entry level Dutton. Based exclusively on the 1300 Escort Mk1/ 2. BRG, only 6000 miles since registration. Just MOT tested for full year. And importantly correctly registered as a Dutton Melos in 2008 on V5C, The hood whilst OK at keeping the weather out has been repaired and in a perfect World should be replaced.. Very nicely trimmed interior, good OEM side screens and supplied with additional removable Perspex half side screens, fitted with OEM optional chrome rollover bar, GT dashboard (speedo/ rev/ fuel/ oil/ water/ volt) Lots of tasteful stainless steel additions makes this car stand out. Dynamo has been replaced with an alternator (always recommended) correct period Weller wheels with good tyres. FITTED WITH 50mm TOW HITCH and SPARE WHEEL. Ideal as a touring car all you need is a cheap box trailer!
